Simple Steps
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”- Tao Te Ching
I have read that many will set goals and have the best intentions but will not follow through to the end. It is easy to get distracted and discouraged when we don’t see results as quickly as we would like. The plan looks good on paper and then when we try to implement the plan, we experience setbacks and then fall back to our old habits.
I read a book a while ago and then again recently, One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way, our brains are wired to trigger the “fight or flight” part of our brains, causing other systems to shut down. He believes this is one of the reasons why people don’t succeed at solving what they perceive as big problems.
The solution he recommends in this book is to break it down into small steps. By breaking a seemingly large goal into small steps, we are bypassing the “fight or flight” and our brains can work effectively to move towards our large goals.
This book is a great read and I would highly recommend it to anyone that has set goals and then failed to follow through.
I have structured my money management system to follow the Kaizen principles. I have broken it down into small simple steps that anyone can successfully follow.
Lets begin…
